ThE History of the morrison hotel

The Morrison Hotel first opened its doors across the road as Hotel Britannia. Once that pub went up in flames, the Morrison you know today was built.

Here is the history behind it.

The Britannia Hotel was built following by the demolition of the first hotel The Duke of Cornwall which was built by a Mr Allan, a police magistrate on the corner of Stanley street and Allan street. The area was then known as One Mile Swamp. The Britannia was built on a floating foundation of 3 feet thick concrete, handmade bricks were used in the construction.

In 1927 K & W Morrison bought the lease of the Britannia and in 1925 bouget the freehold. The old Britannia is said to be the first hotel in Brisbane to serve beer by gas pressure from the cellar. When Stanley was widened by 33 feet Mr Morrison exchanged his property for a smaller area one block away. He bought more ground adjoining the new site and in 1927 built the present Hotel Morrison After a long line of licensees MGW bought the hotel in 2002 and then merged into ALH Group. Now, we've been serving locals and the alike ever since. Building our reputation as one of Brisbane's Best Steakhouses (Fiasco’s Steakhouse) and Whisky and Cocktail Bar (Circa27).

Fiasco's Steakhouse has been serving up the best steaks in Brisbane for longer than we can remember! With a selection of 8 different cuts, a dry aged option and a delicious chef suggested premium steak that changes regularly. Ask our staff about our Famous Mushroom Sauce and Twice Baked House Potato. They are delicious and the perfect sides with your steak.

Although we are definitely obsessed with steaks, our chefs here take great delight in ensuring everyone has a reason to come here with our delicious starters to share, our Authentic wood-fired oven pizza range and a huge selection of mains alternatives (including salads, pastas, vegetarian and vegan options plus a fresh fish of the day).

Open 7 days for lunch and dinner, Fiasco’s Steakhouse is the perfect restaurant for dinner for two, catch up with friends or even your next big function!

Open for lunch Monday to Thursday from 11:30am to 2:30pm, and for dinner 5:30pm - 9pm. Friday through to Sunday have all day dining available from 11:30am - 9:30pm.

Circa 27 Whiskey & Cocktail Bar

Circa 27 Whisky & Cocktail Bar, This neighborhood haunt named for the year 1927 it was built. When Prohibition was repealed, manages to make a splash

in a inner city suburb bursting with microbreweries.

In addition to its 20th century-inspired cocktails with a twist, Circa 27 features more than 250 whiskeys on hand in its library-style bar.

Circa 27 also has 22 beers on tap (over half being craft), 50 wines to select from.

The sit down dinner menu is guaranteed to satisfy with the added bonus of being able to purchase a beverage package as well. Whilst the cocktail platter menu ranges from your party classics (pies and sausage rolls) to the gourmet platter that features some of our signature entrees.
